SEPTIC SYSTEM INFORMATION
Requesting all available installation, service, and warranty records is recommended. All system documents should be filed. If a yearly inspection/servicing by a system expert has not taken place (per general maintenance guidelines), a system servicing should be scheduled prior to completion of the real estate transaction and regularly thereafter.
The system should be monitored regularly and properly maintained by the home owner. Proper system maintenance will significantly reduce the likelihood of unexpected issues, failure and repair costs. General maintenance recommendations have been included in the ‘Helpful Links’ section below.
Based on the overall age and estimated # of occupants residing at the property, a system pumping may be required. Below is a basic chart of recommended system pumping under normal usage conditions. If pump/servicing records are not available, or the last recorded pump/servicing falls outside the requirements listed below, a system pump and service is generally recommended.
